Cookie Policy
Updated: Jul 26, 2026
Effective date: July 25, 2026
This page lists every cookie and similar storage pcbuildhelper.com uses, what it does, and how long it lasts. Analytics and advertising cookies are set only after you consent; you can change your choice any time via Cookie settings in the footer.
Strictly necessary and functional (no consent required)
- pcbh_consent_v1 — first-party cookie. Records your cookie-consent choice. Lasts 1 year.
- Sort and view preferences, compare selections — first-party localStorage. Remembers your interface choices on the builds and deals pages. Lasts until you clear your browser storage.
Analytics (consent required)
- _ga — set by Google Analytics. Distinguishes visitors via a random identifier. Lasts 2 years.
- _ga_<container> — set by Google Analytics. Keeps session state for our GA4 property. Lasts 2 years.
Advertising (consent required in the EEA, UK and Switzerland; opt-out available everywhere)
Google AdSense and its certified advertising partners set third-party cookies, for example on the google.com and doubleclick.net domains, to serve, cap, and — where permitted — personalize ads and measure their performance. The full, current list is maintained by Google: see Google's cookie documentation and the ad-tech providers list.
Opt out via the footer's Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information link, the Global Privacy Control browser signal, which we honor automatically, or Google Ads Settings.
How consent works here
- In the EEA, UK and Switzerland, Google's consent message asks for your choice before any advertising or analytics storage is used (IAB TCF framework).
- Everywhere else, US state privacy law applies an opt-out model: analytics and advertising are on by default and our banner is a dismissible notice rather than a gate. You can opt out at any time from Cookie settings in the footer, or use Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information to stop personalized advertising specifically.
- In the EEA, UK and Switzerland, Google Consent Mode keeps all ad and analytics storage denied until you make a choice. Elsewhere it starts granted and switches to denied the moment you opt out. Where we cannot tell which applies, we use the stricter denied-by-default setting.
- Withdrawing consent deletes our analytics cookies and reloads the page.
