How is this GPU ranking calculated?

The default "Overall" view ranks every card by its relative performance index — a multi-game average derived from independent benchmark suites (primarily TechPowerUp's relative-performance data), normalized so the RTX 4070 equals 100 at each resolution. Picking a specific game instead ranks cards by estimated FPS using our benchmark-backed performance engine, where real published measurements override the model.

What does the percentage in the Overall view mean?

It is relative gaming performance with the RTX 4070 as the 100% reference at the selected resolution. A card at 150% averages roughly 1.5x the frame rate of an RTX 4070; a card at 50% averages about half. The ordering can shift between 1080p, 1440p, and 4K because architectures scale differently with resolution.

Why do some older cards say "rough est."?

Cards from the GTX 10, GTX 16, and RTX 20 series (and AMD equivalents like Vega and the RX 500 series) predate the modern benchmark suites, so their index is chained across older test data. That introduces more uncertainty — and older cards tend to do relatively worse in the newest games than their index suggests — so we flag them instead of presenting the number with false precision.

Which resolution should I rank by?

Rank at the resolution you actually play at: 1080p favors CPU-light esports setups, 1440p is the sweet spot for most gaming PCs today, and 4K spreads the field out the most because memory bandwidth and VRAM start to dominate. Click any card to open it in the FPS calculator and check a specific game.
